Thomas Roblee studied percussion with Dr. Larry Snider, Dr. Kay Stonefelt, Ghanaian Master Drummer Bernard Woma, Mr. John Bacon, Mr. Matt Dudack, and Mr. Mark Gonder. From 2004 to 2008, he recorded as solo timpanist with the Fredonia Wind Ensemble, the UA Steel Band ("By Request"), and the UA Graduate Percussion Ensemble. He performed at three Percussive Arts Society International Conventions, was invited to perform Anders Koppel’s marimba concerto with the Fredonia Symphony Orchestra, and premiered "Big Falls, Little Falls" by Stuart Saunders Smith. He directed the University of Akron African Drumming and Gyil Ensembles, organized and directed a residency of Ghanaian drum and dance troupe Saakumu, was a dance accompanist for modern, jazz, and tap classes (UA and Kent State; piano and percussion), and performed as a percussionist with the Akron Symphony, Wooster Symphony, Richmond Indiana Symphony, Ohio Light Opera, DCI division III Raiders Drum and Bugle Corps (2005 World Champions), and traditional African Percussion Ensemble, which he directs. Currently, he is the Assistant Marching Band, Percussion, and African Ensemble Director at Canton Central Catholic High School and works with Young Audiences of Northeast Ohio, educating students and promoting percussion. Mr. Roblee was appointed at The College of Wooster in 2008.
