Research Interests

Dr. Anderson specializes in the archaeology of Central Mexico from the time of Christ to the Aztec Empire.  His research interests include human impacts on ancient landscapes, settlement patterns, ancient imperialism and trade, and the collapse of complex societies.  His current research involves developing a better understanding  of the ceramic sequence and settlement patterns of Tula, capital of the Toltecs, to investigate the decline of Teotihuacan as a regional superpower and the subsequent rise of the Toltec state.
