Undergraduate Research
Undergraduate Research
Wooster is the nation’s premier liberal arts college for undergraduate research. There is no better place to prepare for graduate or professional school.
Every Wooster senior works one-on-one with a faculty mentor to conceive, organize, and complete a significant piece of original research, scholarship, or creative expression. This Independent Study project is the centerpiece of Wooster’s commitment to undergraduate research, but other opportunities for student research also abound.
Start early
Each year, the College provides positions (many of them paid) for more than 100 students to work with faculty on research projects in biology, physics, chemistry, business economics, mathematics and other fields. Students can take advantage of these opportunities as early as the second semester of their first year.
Lots of options
The Sophomore Research Program offers opportunities for students to work as paid research assistants to Wooster faculty.
Summer research options include the NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates program for physics majors; the Applied Mathematics Research Experience; and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Summer Research Scholars program
