How to Apply for Financial Aid
How to Apply for Financial Aid
We strongly urge applicants to complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and Wooster Supplementary Aid Application by February 15, 2012. (This is a suggested filing date and NOT a deadline.) Wooster's federal FAFSA code is 003037.
For important information on avoiding financial aid scams, please review the Student Aid on the Web page.
To receive an estimate of aid eligibility for the 2012-2013 year:
- Obtain a Personal Identification Number (Both student and parent will need one)
- Complete the FAFSA using Wooster's school code: 003037 (Detailed instructions on how to complete the FAFSA)
- Complete the Wooster Supplementary Aid Application OR the CSS Profile
Once your above materials are submitted, an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) toward college costs is calculated. This will determine your eligibility for Grants, Student Loans, and Work-study.
To confirm the aid we have estimated, please also submit the items listed below:
Please note - We do not need to have these items by February 15th, as we can complete an estimate of aid based on the FAFSA and aid application.
- Signed, complete copy of parents' 2011 federal 1040 (tax return)
- Copies of parents' 2011 W-2 form(s)
- Signed, complete copy of student's 2011 federal 1040 (tax return), OR Non-Filing Statement, if not filing a tax return
- Copies of student's 2011 W-2 form(s)
Early Decision Applicants
Early Decision applicants who would like an early estimate of their eligibility for need-based aid should submit the CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE by December 15. We will send you an estimate of financial aid you are likely to receive shortly after the admission letter is mailed. However, your final aid award is determined in the spring, after we receive all required information, including your FAFSA analysis
Early Action & Regular Decision Applicants
Wooster mails the estimated need-based award notices to admitted applicants as quickly as possible after applicants have filed the FAFSA and submitted Wooster’s Supplementary Aid Application. If both forms are completed by the end of February, applicants should be notified of their estimated aid eligibility by the end of March.
