Early Decision

What is Early Decision?

Students applying early decision are entering into a contract with Wooster. They agree to enroll in Wooster and withdraw all other college applications if accepted. This plan is designed for the students who know that Wooster is their number one choice. Wooster offers two Early Decision options:

  • Early Decision I: Deadline of November 1 with notification by November 15
  • Early Decision II: Deadline of January 15 with notification by February 1

What are the benefits of applying Early Decision?

Early Decision I applicants will receive an admission decision by November 15.  They'll also be able to enjoy the holiday season knowing their college decision and put that college sticker on the back of their car. Early Decision II candidates will know their admissions decision by February 1st and be able to relax and enjoy the remainder of their senior year (we don't mean relax in their classes or leadership roles)!

How to become an Early Decision Applicant

Students wishing to be considered for Early Decision need to submit a completed application for admission, and the Early Decision agreement form by the dates listed above. Students interested in receiving a financial aid estimation must submit the CSS Profile.

Merit Scholarship for Early Decision Applicants

Early Decision applicants are automatically considered for a Dean's Scholarship and are also eligible to apply for other competitive scholarships.

Financial Aid process for Early Decision Candidates

Early Decision applicants who are offered Wooster admission must first complete the CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE. Tentative financial aid awards will be made shortly after we review this material.

In order to qualify for federal aid and to receive a more accurate estimation of costs, Early Decision applicants should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid as soon as possible after January 1.
