Interviewing Tips
There's far more to your application than a test score or words on an application. The application process is like a jigsaw puzzle and an interview is one of those pieces that can connect the other pieces. A good interview is a good conversation.
- Do your homework and know the basics about the College.
The more you know, the better the conversation.
- Be positive.
Smile. A positive attitude makes a difference.
- When asked questions, continue beyond a simple yes or no.
In addition to mentioning the things you like or have accomplished, expand upon your memorable experiences or notable achievements.
- Advocate for yourself.
Talk about your strengths, and don’t worry about mentioning weaknesses. It's best for you to be honest from the beginning. We are less concerned about your disappointments than we are with the lessons you may have learned from your experiences. If you had one bad year, don’t be afraid to talk about what you learned.
- Ask your own questions.
An interview is a two-way street. Don’t be afraid to ask questions that are triggered by something your interviewer has said; this will allow you to learn more about wooster.
