Now in her 19th year at The College of Wooster and 29th overall as a head field hockey coach, Brenda Meese ranks among the national leaders in both career wins and total games coached. In fact, with an all-time record of 340-186-10 (.644), she entered 2008 ranked 14th in the NCAA (all divisions) in victories and her 536 games coached is No. 14 in that category.
Meese is Wooster’s all-time winningest coach with a mark of 216-123-4 (.636) over 18 seasons, highlighted by a 16-4 record, outright conference championship, and NCAA Tournament appearance during 2001. Overall, the Scots, who also went undefeated in regular season league play in 2006 (12-0) and were part of a three-way tie for first-place in the league standings in both 2007 and 2003, have produced 15 winning records during her tenure.
A 1975 Wooster graduate, Meese spent 10 years as the field hockey coach at the State University of New York at Oneonta before returning to her alma mater in 1989. At Oneonta State, she guided her teams to a 124-63-6 record (.658), 10 state tournaments, and three trips to the national tournament.
In addition to all of her coaching achievements, Meese earned her master's degree at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and is currently pursuing her doctorate. She has worked at many Olympic Development Camps and was the Division III representative for the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. Meese is also an associate professor and assistant athletic director at Wooster.
