Research interests
My current research projects explore the cultural dimensions of French colonialism in West Africa, between 1930 and 1960. I am particularly interested in probing key moments, when France's colonial project was redefined. My work also investigates the evolving responses of African elites to the colonial situation.

Recent articles:

“The National Revolution in French West Africa: Dakar-Jeunes and the Shaping of African Opinion,” International Journal of Francophone Studies 10 (1-2) (2007): 85-103.

“The Progress of Peasants: Rural Schools and the Colonial Imaginary in 1930s French West Africa.” Forthcoming in Cahiers d’études africaines.
