We provide versatile interactive workshop programs on active teaching and learning approaches in international relations. Techniques that engage students in the learning process have been shown to promote a deeper understanding of concepts and processes and better retention of knowledge.
These workshops helps participants to expand the classroom beyond
traditional lectures to include techniques designed to increase learning,
develop critical thinking skills, and elicit discovery and the construction
of knowledge. Through our workshops, participants match learning
objectives with innovations in educational approaches.
Workshops examine a wide range of active and experiential learning
tools, including: case teaching, structured debates, simulations,
games, role-play, service learning, the use of information technology,
and teaching with visual media and alternative texts. We present
best practices, discuss and engage the participants in a range of
related applications, outline procedures to guide instructors and
students through the experience, and detail effective methods for debriefing
and assessment.
