WOOSTER, Ohio — Award-winning writer Scott Russell Sanders will give a reading of his works on Monday, Nov. 7, at The College of Wooster. The event, which is free and open to the public, begins at 7:30 p.m. in Room 244 of Kauke Hall (400 East University St.). Light refreshments and a book signing will follow the reading.
Sanders is the author of 20 books of fiction and nonfiction, including, most recently, A Conservationist Manifesto (Indiana University Press), A Private History of Awe (Farrar, Straus & Girous), and Wilderness Plots: Tales About the Settlement of the American Land (The Wooster Book Company). His Earth Works: Selected Essays will be published in the spring of 2012. Among his honors are the Lannan Literary Award, the John Burroughs Essay Award, the Mark Twain Award, the Cecil Woods Award for Nonfiction, and fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. In 2010, he was named the National Winner of the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana Authors Award. He is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus of English at Indiana University, where he taught from 1971 to 2009.
