Student Organization Websites
Student Organization Websites
Chartered student organizations may request web space on Sites.
Sites
Sites is a content management system (CMS) set up for student organizations, grant-supported programs, faculty projects, and other sites on a case-by-case basis. The purpose is to provide a flexible, easy to use platform for editors to create and maintain their own websites. No knowledge of programming or markup language is required and many of the monotonous tasks associated with static HTML websites are automated.
All new editors will be required to meet with Web Communication for a planning session and a brief training. Student organization web spaces must be requested by the group's advisor.
Please contact us if you have questions about the functionality of sites.
Student Organization Website Policies
Student organization websites are expected to post and keep current the following information on their website.
- Contact information
- Statement of purpose/mission
- Regular meeting times and places
- Event dates and times
Outdated content
Student organizations are expected to keep content on their sites up-to-date at all times.
Websites will be audited at the beginning and end of each semester. Websites found to contain outdated information or incorrect contact information will be given two weeks to update content.
After two weeks, links from official Wooster web pages to student organization sites will be made inactive.
If a student organization's site content is outdated by more than 1 year, site will be removed from the College of Wooster web server and archived to CD. An organization officer or advisor can request a copy of the site archive CD from the webmaster.
Websites can be reinstated at anytime upon review and approval by The Office of Web Communication.
Proper use of multimedia/graphic content
All multimedia/graphic content used on student organization sites will be optimized for proper web viewing. Image resolution will be limited to 72 DPI and file size will be limited to 100K or less.
Graphics/images uploaded to the web server will exist in optimized JPEG (.jpg) and GIF (.gif) formats only.
Please request permission from the webmaster before posting audio/video content on Wooster's web server.
Unnapproved file formats and/or misuse of multimedia/graphic content on Wooster's web server will be subject to removal at the discretion of The Office of Web Communication.
Student organization websites are expected to comply with all College of Wooster web policies.
