Wooster Scottish Arts Society (WooSAS)
Wooster Scottish Arts Society (WooSAS)
Founded in 1998, the Wooster Scottish Arts Society began in order to promote and teach the Scottish Arts and culture at the College of Wooster and the Wooster community. Membership include the College of Wooster Pipe Band (CWPB), Drum Corps and Highland Dancers, as well as other students and faculty. The CWPB is best known for our performances with the Scot Marching Band during football season. We also perform at other events including First Year Orientation, Family Weekend, Commencement ceremonies and Alumni Weekend. Events we host include Scotoberfest in October, Robert Burns Night in February, and Tartan day in April.
During the Spring season the Music Department holds auditions and reduces the band size and raises the musical standard for a competitive and touring performance band. In the past several years the CWPB has performed in Chicago, Washington DC, Philadelphia, and major cities in New England and Florida as well as winning the Grade III contest at the Toronto Indoor Highland Games in 2009.
