Independent Study (I.S.) is the most distinctive feature of Wooster's curriculum. For more than 50 years, I.S. has offered all Wooster students the opportunity to explore what interests them most, and create an original research project, written work, performance or exhibit of artwork, supported one-on-one by a faculty mentor. U.S. News & World Report has ranked Wooster's I.S. program the number two senior capstone experience in the nation, second only to Princeton University

The Common Data Set (CDS) is a set of standards and definitions of data items. The CDS initiative is a collaborative effort among data providers in the higher education community and publishers such as the College Board, Peterson's, and U.S. News & World Report. The goal of this collaboration is to improve the quality and accuracy of information provided to all involved in a student's transition into higher education, as well as to reduce the reporting burden on data providers.
