How OCS Works: A condensed guide

Application Process

Students must submit two applications. The first must be submitted to the OCS office via the OCS website by February 1. Once that application is approved by OCS, the student must apply to his/her specific program via the provider/university website.

Eligibility Requirements

Students must meet with a member of the Global Envoy team, either Kate Patch or Jamie Adler, and his/her academic advisor. Only sophomores and juniors can participate in OCS programs. Students must be enrolled at The College of Wooster the semester preceding off-campus study, and they must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75. Students are required to attend the Pre-Departure Orientation before studying off-campus, and they must complete the OCS Program Evaluation within three weeks of their return to campus after their program.

Fall vs. Spring Enrollment

Fall and Spring semesters will be split 55%/45% in order to plan for and utilize on-campus resources in an effective manner. OCS reserves the right to switch the semester a student will go off-campus.

 Financial Aid

Generally, The College of Wooster will apply all financial aid to an approved application for one endorsed off-campus program (some restrictions apply, see How OCS Works for full details regarding financial aid and billing). 

Petitions

Petitions for any exceptions to the above requirements, and for permission to transfer financial aid to a non-endorsed off-campus program, must be submitted to the Director of OCS no later than February 1. Petitions for special one-time endorsement of non-endorsed programs must contain compelling academic reasons in order to be granted.
