Objective
To maximize the engagement of entrepreneurs and those who support them through the business case and business ecosystem development platform. This will be accomplished by planning and implementing a marketing strategy that will increase the awareness of individuals, organizations and resource providers, and a social media marketing strategy that engages existing networks in using the unique tools on localfoodsystems.org. Of special interest is a marketing strategy that reaches economically, racially and culturally diverse audiences, including the current owners of farms and agriculturally related businesses, as well as potential owners that include young people, racially and economically diverse audiences, technologically savvy individuals interested in becoming involved with agriculture, and those who are particularly challenged with use of internet-based networking technology.
Responsibilities
- Promote the tools available on localfoodsystems.org as a platform to aid networking among entrepreneurs, development of business cases, mapping current and potential supply chains, business ecosystems and community investment. Targets include agricultural producers and related service providers, new entrepreneurs in production, processing and agriculture related business.
- Engage the participation of the agricultural community as well as those interested in supporting the agricultural community in the outreach to potential entrepreneurs.
- Develop marketing focused on local economic development councils and other organizations that support entrepreneurs to increase awareness of and use of the tools available.
- Monitor, evaluate and document the strengths and weaknesses of the strategy developed and implemented.
- Encourage wider networks of those interested in agriculture and land use to map available assets in the agricultural sector and support entrepreneurial efforts that serve local needs.
- Coordinate activities with other college and university interns working on similar efforts to function as an efficient multi-institutional team.
- Meet every other week with the agricultural bioscience management team to coordinate activities and prepare a final report to the Ag Bio Leadership Council.
