Year One
Year One
Year One is The College of Wooster's first-year literary magazine, featuring a collection of the best original poetry, prose, essays, photography, and artwork submitted exclusively by first-year students.
The Chief Editor of Year One is the Writing Center Intern, who assembles a staff to compile and edit the works each year. Each volume of Year One serves as an exciting showcase that enables us to look ahead to the many more wonderful works that these students will produce throughout their careers at Wooster, and indeed, throughout their lifetimes.
Criteria for Submission
The deadline for Year One submissions from the Class of 2016 is December 12, 2012.
Submissions to Year One can include poetry, short fiction, creative essays, photography, artwork, digital projects, and music. All submissions must be the original work of a first-year Wooster Student.
- In the past, original prose selections have ranged from 200 to 1,200 words in length; however, both shorter and longer submissions are accepted.
- If you are interested in submitting original photography, digital copies are preferred and can be sent via e-mail to the editor. Contact the editor to scan print photographs.
- If you are interested in submitting original artwork, please contact the editor in order to arrange a scan or photograph of the artwork.
All electronic submissions, as well as questions regarding submissions, should be sent to Lynette Mattson, Year One Editor.
