Teaching Programs without Certification

The following are some of the programs available to college graduates who have not had previous teacher preparation or teaching certification.

  • Academy for Urban School Leadership is a 12 month teacher preparation and certification program in Chicago Public Schools.
  • Blue Engine recruits, selects, trains, and supports recent college graduates who dedicate one year of service to accelerate academic achievement in high-need NYC public high schools.
  • Citizen SchoolsCalifornia ,Massachusetts, North Carolina, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York , and Texas is a teaching fellowship with that provides recent graduates with a two year, fulltime, paid fellowship focusing on the burgeoning field of out-of-school time education.
  • Inner City Teacher Corps (ICTC) is a volunteer service program that places outstanding recent college graduates as classroom teachers in Chicago's inner-city parochial schools.
  • Knowles Science Teaching Foundation (KSTF) Teaching Fellowships are young men and women who have received a bachelor's or advanced degree in science, engineering or mathematics and are committed to teaching high school science and/or mathematics in U.S. schools. The fellowship supports them professionally and financially for up to five years through a teacher preparation program to eligibility for tenure.
  • The Massachusetts Initiative for New Teachers (MINT) is an intensive teacher preparation program that provides a unique opportunity for the most qualified and motivated recent college graduates and mid-career professionals to make an immediate impact in the classrooms.
  • MATCH Corps is Similar to AmeriCorps, MATCH Corps is an ambitious, intensive, one-on-one tutoring program designed to fully close the Achievement Gap between minority and non-minority students, and between economically disadvantaged students and their more advantaged peers.
  • Math for America NYC, Berkeley, Boston, LA, San Diego, Utah, Washington, DC is a five-year program where recent graduates commit to teach mathematics in public secondary schools.he
  • Nativity Fellows Program hires full time fellows that teach an average of 2-4 class periods per day while serving as advisors, tutors, proctors, coaches, nurses, janitors, drivers, monitors and all other responsibilities that promote the success of the students’ well-being. 
  • St. Anthony Indian School is willing to help untrained teachers attain their license to teach in New Mexico during the school year.
  • Urban Teaching Fellowships are available in Massachusetts and California
  • 180 Days in Springfield provides an accelerated route to teaching certification and employment for college seniors and recent graduates with majors in Math, English, the Sciences, or history/Social Studies. Students spend a full year teaching at an urban middle school or high school in Springfield, MA while earning NCATE-accredited certification and M.Ed.
