Summer Projects

2007

$118,068 awarded to 13 students involving: History, Publishing, Theatre, Auditory Display & AMRE, a program initiated by the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science designed to give students from the The College of Wooster experience in the practical applications of mathematics and computer science which the classroom cannot provide.

2008

$13,280 to 6 students involving: Psychology, Tree-Ring dating, and a college course on chocolate.

2009

$37,450 to 8 students involving: an E-ship program, Tree ring dating, Furniture, Biofuels & Produced water.

Student Competitions & Accepted Proposals

Over $119,705 have been awarded through E-Competitions and Accepted Proposals to over 20 students & Faculty involving some of the projects and businesses mentioned below:

  • Write-Downtown: Benefiting United Way of Wayne & Holmes Count.
  • GMP publishing: Publishing company, created books for special needs children under supervision of English Professor Nancy Grace.
  • Cavalry Music & Apparel: A record label and apparel company that works to promote all genres of art through a grassroots approach.
  • The Urban Cottage: Consignment boutique that sells fine quality furniture and accessories from all eras.
  • Garden Oil: A company that takes a formerly non-usable plant matter and recycles it into nitrogen rich composted mulch for sale.
  • Big Ten Experience: A free website that reports and details the overall college football experience at each of the Big Ten football venues.
  • Natural Beauty Products: A company created to make the purchasing of safer beauty products more approachable for the everyday consumer.
  • Riddim!: A Caribbean based music distribution network and internet radio product.
  • The Akaa Project: A Grassroots non-profit organization established to assist a needy village in the eastern region of Ghana.
  • New Period: A non-mainstream photography website to serve as a reliable and professional source for people to get closer to non-mainstream photography.
  • Post-Wooster Project: The production of an original web series in the form of a short sitcom by a Film Studies Major.
  • Boomerang Intergenerational Theater Company: A program that aims to transform lives by bridging the gap between generations through the physical and social activity of developing live theater.
  • Eat Out But Stay In: A student run food delivery service.
  • Psyche Comics: A graphic novel company that promotes female comic creators and fans and the indie comic industry.
  • Woo Laundry: A student run laundry service.
  • Prorete LLC: Social networking website.
  • A student run campus project named "Bee House" that works on producing organic honey for consumption and sale.
  • A market research project for a Chinese fashion store.
  • A student created summer arts program in NYC.
