What We Do
The purpose of the Writing Center at the College of Wooster is to help students develop their reading and writing skills by encouraging them to think critically about the processes involved in both. Staffed by experienced professionals and trained peer tutors, the Center is a free resource for all Wooster students who seek assistance in planning, drafting, and revising their written work.
The Writing Center is located on the first floor of the Andrews Library and is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, and 6 to 9 p.m. on Sunday. Students can make an appointment by calling us at (330) 263-2205 or clicking on the link below. We welcome students to visit us at any time, and are happy to take drop-in appointments if there are tutors available. However, due to the high demand for Writing Center sessions, we strongly recommend that students make appointments in advance if they are able.
New Wait-list Feature
If there are no available appointments that fit into your schedule, you can now sign up for a waiting list on the Writing Center Online site. Simply click the clock icon next to the date(s) on which you would like to schedule your appointment and fill out the form. You will be informed by email or text message if we have cancellations that fit your schedule (remember to check your spam mail). You can then log on and schedule an appointment as usual.
For the spring semester, the Writing Center will offer 30 minute appointments and hour-long appointments. These sessions are offered on different schedules. If you would like a 30 minute appointment, please choose the "Spring 2013 Half-Hour Appointments" option from the drop-down menu. For an hour-long appointment, select "Spring 2013 Hour Appointments."
