Karen completed her 14th year as the department's lab technician. Her main responsibilities are the preparation, set-up, and clean-up of the two Gateway courses and Microbiology. Ordering and supplying equipment and materials for other courses, I.S. students, and for the department in general are other aspects of her job. In addition, she maintains the stockrooms, works with safety issues and requirements, and coordinates and leads the annual safety seminar for I.S. students, faculty, staff, and departmental workers. In July, 2011, she attended the national conference of the National Association of Scientific Materials Managers in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
