Calculus AB/BC Details

Description

This workshop will start with an examination of the syllabus for the 2012 AP* Calculus Exam(s). From there, most of the major topics in the syllabus will be covered. All topics will be approached from a "reformed calculus" point of view with the use of the TI-83 or TI-89 graphing calculator. The term "reformed calculus" means using the Rule of Four, which examines concepts from symbolic, numeric, graphic, and descriptive points of view. Emphasis will be on understanding, rather than computation. Broad concepts and widely applicable methods, rather than details and special tricks, will be emphasized. The Institute will cover the AB syllabus with extra time being devoted to special concerns and BC topics.
