Wooster Chorus

Founded in 1964, the acclaimed Wooster Chorus is comprised of undergraduate students representing all academic areas within The College of Wooster's liberal arts program. Under the direction of Lisa Wong, the choir has been praised for its high level of artistry, engaging performances, and enthusiastic singing. The Wooster Chorus presents several concerts both on and off-campus throughout the academic year, and embarks each spring on a week-long domestic tour. Membership is by audition. Recent collaborative performances have included Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in D Minor with the Cleveland Orchestra and Cleveland Orchestra Chorus.

Auditions for 2012 - 2013

Auditions for Wooster Chorus will take place during the first week of classes from August 27 - August 31. Audition sign-up sheets will be posted on the door of 207 Scheide.  Requirements vary depending upon whether you are a returning student or an incoming student, so please read the following information carefully.  If you have any questions regarding auditions, please contact the director, Lisa Wong.

Incoming first year students AND/OR students who have not previously been a member of Wooster Chorus OR Wooster Singers:  Please prepare one solo that best showcases your voice.  An art song or folk song is preferred; Broadway show tunes are also acceptable. An accompanist will be provided, so please bring a second copy of the music if you need one for yourself. There will also be a short sight-reading example to assess your familiarity with reading music notation.

Returning students who have previously been a member of Wooster Chorus and/or Wooster Singers: Please prepare measures 672 (with pick-up) - 695 of Gustav Mahler's "Resurrection Symphony," which we will be performing in November. You may sign up to audition individually, or as part of a quartet of returning students.  All sopranos should also learn the alto line for measures 676 - 685.
