Wooster Singers

Wooster Singers, a non-auditioned ensemble of music majors and non-music majors, seeks to immerse its members in meaningful artistic expression. With a clear understanding that many members may be participating in their first choral experience, the director will select literature that reflects the educational needs of its members. Within the curriculum, the Wooster Singers encourages and teaches as much about the language of music and its proper performance as possible. These matters include increased fluency in reading music, the understanding and acquiring of appropriate vocal techniques to negotiate the musical material, issues related to performance practice, and preliminary exposure to artistic engagement. Texts are understood to be an essential element of choral expression, and mechanics of diction, delivery, and emotional connection are examined. Performances are given at least once per semester.
