Major in Music Theory/Composition
Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, the Bachelor of Music degree program in Music Theory/Composition requires the successful completion of an entrance audition (portfolio review), ususally near the end of the third semester of college. Only after passing the entrance audition may the student declare as a major the B.Mus. in Theory/Composition. A prospective candidate for the B.Mus. Theory/Composition may declare a major in Music prior to the third semester but will be listed as a candidate for the B.A. Music until he or she passes the portfolio review. A student who does not pass the portfolio review in the third semester may have a second opportunity in the fourth semester.
Degree Requirements
32 courses are required for graduation, subject to restrictions on residency, fractional credit, fractional credit, and course load. 24 courses are taken in music.
