I have supervised Independent Study projects on public opinion and the Iraq War, judicial behavior on the U.S. Supreme Court, evangelical Christianity and voting behavior, and the relationship between public opinion and political rhetoric during the Polk presidency.
My teaching interests are in U.S. politics, political theory, basic research methods, and on interdisciplinary subjects. At Wooster, I have taught Introduction to U.S. National Politics, Introduction to Contemporary Ideologies, Public Opinion and Voting Behavior, and Leadership in the Public and Private Sectors. My research interests include political psychology, public opinion, political communication, and the presidency.
