Major/Minor

The Major

A major in WGSS consists of 11 courses.

• WGSS: 120. Introduction to Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies

• Three courses chosen from the following:

  • 202. History of Western Feminist Thought
  • 204. Global Feminisms
  • 206. Queer Lives

WGSS Core Courses (see Catalogue for full listing)

• Three electives from cross-listed courses (see Catalogue for courses that span across the College)

At least two core or cross-listed courses must be from a different division than the others

• 330. Doing Feminist Research: Theory & Practice

• 350. Senior Seminar: Feminist Pedagogy in Practice

• 451-452. Independent Study in WGSS

The Minor

A minor in WGSS consists of six courses:

• WGSS: 120. Introduction to Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies

• Two of the following courses: WGSS 20200, 20400, 20600, or Core Courses (see above)

• One elective from cross-listed courses (see above)

• 330. Doing Feminist Research: Theory & Practice

• 350. Senior Seminar: Feminist Pedagogy in Practice


Special Notes

  • Majors and minors may substitute one WGSS 200-level course, WGSS 40000, or WGSS 40700 for one of the cross-listed courses.
  • WGSS 40700 is strongly recommended.
  • Only grades of C- or better are accepted for the major or minor.
