  • Academic Search Complete (EBSCOhost)
    This database provides indexing/abstracts to over 4360 scholarly journals, popular magazines, and journals of commentary, including full text access to more than 3,430 of those publications/journals covering a wide variety of academic areas of study, including social sciences, humanities, education, computer sciences, engineering, language and linguistics, arts & literature, medical sciences, and ethnic studies. This database is updated on a daily basis.Coverage is from the early 1970's for some titles to the present.
  • Access Science @ McGraw-Hill
    The Online Encyclopedia of Science and Technology
    This is the electronic access version of McGraw-Hill's Encyclopedia of Science and Technology, a highly technical encyclopedia in the sciences. In the Web environment, the database is also able to offer an online dictionary and a well-developed subject directory of Web links.
  • America: History and Life
    America: History and Life indexes and provides abstract summaries to sources on the history of the United States and Canada from prehistory to the present. This database indexes over 2,000 journals published worldwide. In addition to covering all key English-language historical journals, America: History and Life coverage includes selected historical journals from major countries, state and local history journals, and a targeted selection of hundreds of journals in the social sciences and humanities. Over 90% of the articles included are published in English-language journals. In addition to articles, each year America: History and Life includes citations of book and media reviews from a selection of over one hundred key journals in US and Canadian history and related fields. The database also includes citations to abstracts of dissertations published in these areas. Updated three times per year.   • Anthropological Index Online
    Royal Anthropological Institute (free access) Online version of the Anthropological Index to Current Periodicals in the Museum of Mankind Library, British Museum (incorporating the former Royal Anthropological Institute library). Coverage is from 1970-present, with limited coverage for the late 1960's.
  • Anthropology Plus (FirstSearch)
    Anthropology Plus brings together into one resource Anthropological Literature from Harvard University and Anthropological Index, Royal Anthropological Institute from the UK. Anthropology Plus provides extensive worldwide indexing of journal articles, reports, commentaries, edited works, and obituaries in the fields of social, cultural, physical, biological, and linguistic anthropology, ethnology, archaeology, folklore, material culture, and interdisciplinary studies. Coverage is from the late 19th century to the present.
  • Anthrosource
    AnthroSource provides access to the full text of 15 peer-reviewed journals published by the American Anthropological Association (AAA). Additionally it provides access to the full-text archives of all journals published by the AAA.
  • Art Abstracts
    This database indexes and provides abstract summaries for 313 leading international art publications, including journals, yearbooks, and museum bulletins. It offers broad coverage of art topics, including advertising, archaeology, crafts, folk art, graphic arts, interior design, video, film, architecture, and art history.Entries in the database also cite any art reproductions used to illustrate articles and advertisements, under the artists' names. Includes titles in French, Spanish, German, Italian, Swedish, Japanese, and Dutch as well as English language sources. Updated monthly.Coverage is from 1929-present.
  • Article 1st (FirstSearch)
    Indexes nearly 12,500 journals in science, technology, medicine, social science, business, the humanities, and popular culture. Updated daily. Coverage is from 1990-present.
  • Arts and Humanities Citation Index (ISI)
  • ATLA Religion Database (1949-Present)
    This is the most comprehensive database in the field of religious studies and theology available to Wooster students, faculty, and staff. In addition, it covers topics in related interdisciplinary areas such as sociology, anthropology, psychology, history, medicine, law, and business. It indexes a combination of journal articles, book reviews, and scholarly essays and conference papers found in books.

  • Bibliography of the History of Art (The Getty)
    The Bibliography of the History of Art covers European and American art from late antiquity to the present. It indexes and abstracts art-related books, conference proceedings and dissertations, exhibition and dealer's catalogs, and articles from more than 2,500 periodicals. It includes and extends the coverage of its two predecessor art indexes: RAA (Repertoire d'Art et d'Archeologie) from 1973 to 1989 and RILA (International Repertory of the Literature of Art ) from 1975 to 1989. Coverage is from 1973-present.
  • BIOSIS Previews
    BIOSIS Previews encompasses both Biological Abstracts and BiologicalAbstracts/RRM (Reports, Reviews, Meetings).This database contains bibliographic citations and abstracts pertaining to agriculture, biochemistry, biotechnology, botany, ecology, environment, genetics, microbiology, molecular biology, neurology, pharmacology, public health and zoology; includes journal articles, books and book chapters, meeting reports and documents. Indexes 5,500+ journals. Updated weekly. Coverage is from 1980-present.
  • GeoRef
    GeoRef indexes and provides abstracts summaries to references from the American Geological Institute's geoscience database and contains over 1.9 million records. The database includes all of the references from the Bibliography of North American Geology, the Bibliography and Index of Geology Exclusive of North America, Geophysical Abstracts, and the Bibliography and Index of Geology. In addition, it includes items from special bibliographies produced on request for state surveys or societies. Coverage is from 1785-present.
  • Historical Abstracts
    Historical Abstracts indexes and provides abstract summaries to sources on the history of the world from 1450 to the present (excluding the United States and Canada, which are covered in America: History and Life). Currently over 2,000 journals published throughout the world are covered in the database, making this a periodical database unmatched in breadth. In addition to including the key historical journals from virtually every major country, Historical Abstracts includes a targeted selection of hundreds of journals in the social sciences and humanities that are of special interest to researchers and students of history. In addition to articles, each year Historical Abstracts includes approximately 3,000 citations to useful historical books as reviewed by the most prestigious journals in the field and citations to abstracts of dissertations completed worldwide of particular interest for historical research.   • Index to 19th Century American Art Periodicals (FirstSearch)
    The Index to Nineteenth-Century American Art Periodicals (AAI) is the only online index to art periodicals that were published in the United States during the 19th century. The journals indexed represent a nearly complete coverage of art journals from this period. Since entire journal contents are indexed ó articles, art notes, illustrations, stories, poems, and advertisements ó the index is a valuable source of information on popular culture and industry, as well as artists and illustrators, painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, architecture and design, exhibitions and sales, decoration, and collecting. Record access is enhanced by the addition of broad Library of Congress subject headings, RILA terms, and other subject key words. Names for people and organizations are augmented by the inclusion of variant forms taken from the American Art Annual, Who's Who in American Art, and other sources. Coverage is 19th Century periodicals only.
  • JSTOR
    Provides access to the full content of a variety of scholarly journals. Coverage generally begins with volume one of a journal, and ends 2-5 years from the present. Journals may be browsed or searched. Includes the anthropology journal listed below. In addition, there are a number of interdisciplinary journals.
  • netLibrary
    netLibrary is a collection of electronic books available over the Internet. Although they also sell and market to end users, their emphasis is on books that are the sorts of titles that libraries traditionally buy from scholarly and university presses. netLibrary titles that OhioLINK has bought are available to all members. You can look at netLibrary's own FAQ at http://www.netlibrary.com/faq.asp. Coverage includes electronic books selected by OhioLINK for OhioLINK users.
  • Nineteenth Century Masterfile
    This growing database indexes by keyword or journal title articles in journals, magazines, and newspapers published in the 19th century and very early 20th century. The indexing originated in a variety of historical, print indexes, including the following: Poole's Index to Periodical Literature (1802-1906), Stead's Index to Periodicals (1890-1906), Richardson's Index to Periodical Articles in Religion (1890-1899), Cumulative Index to a Selected List of Periodicals (1896-1899), New York Times Index (1863-1905), New York Daily Tribune Index (1875-1906), and Palmer's Index to the Times (London) (1890) (The College of Wooster subscribes to the journal and newspaper indexing part of this service only) Coverage is from 1802-1906.
  • Periodicals Index Online
    Indexes journal articles in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and other Western language journals--backfile years only. Currently indexes 1872 journals. Will eventually index 3500 journals. Covers the years 1770-1995.
  • Russian Academy of Sciences Bibliographies (FirstSearch)
    The Russian Academy of Sciences Bibliographies file describes material on the social sciences and humanities published in the Commonwealth of Independent States and Eastern Europe ó books, manuscripts, dissertations, and articles from more than 10,000 periodicals. Coverage is from 1992-present.
  • Social Studies Database (OhioLINK Digital Media Center)
    "The Social Studies Collections of the OhioLINK Digital Media Center will contain images and other media related to the social sciences. Currently, the database contains one collection, photographs of Mayan archaeology contributed by Linda T. Grimm of Oberlin College. This collection shows Mayan architecture and scenery from Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala." [Information taken from the help files for the database at the OhioLINK site.]
  • SocINDEX (EBSCOhost)
    Provides access to journal articles in sociology and related disciplines. Coverage goes back to 1895 for core titles which represent about one-fourth of this collection. Coverage is more recent for the remainder of the collection (ca. 1100 titles). Many citations link to the full text of articles.
  • WorldCat (FirstSearch)
    Covers over 43 million records, including anything catalogued by OCLC member libraries. Includes manuscripts as early as 11th century. Updated daily.

WOO Reference BL – BX sections Sources in Religious studies. The BL section contains quite a bit on religious mythology. This section includes the multi-volume Encyclopedia of Religion (WOO Reference BL31 .E46 2005), which has an extensive series of articles on iconographies of different religions and regions.
WOO Reference D, E, and F sections Sources on all regions of the world. Where you browse will depend upon the region you are studying. Guide cards at the end of the shelving ranges indicate the regional areas.
