Off-campus Study: Indonesia: Religion, Art, and Social Change (SIT, Fall 2011)
In the fall of 2011 I had the privilege to study abroad in Indonesia, mainly on the islands of Bali and Java. I became incorporated into the traditional Bali lifestyle, learning the syncopation of art and religion in the everyday lives of Balinese people. My time there inspired my Senior Independent Study project, which I applied for and received Copeland funding to return to Bali to study Balinese performances. My semester abroad was not only a semester, but carried over into the rest of my time at Wooster and motivated me to pursue a career in off-campus studies. You never know how greatly a semester abroad can change your life until after you return!
