Faculty Mentors
Summer Research 2013
The deadline for proposals for summer 2013 has passed.
The 2008 Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Undergraduate Science Education Program award to The College of Wooster supports three different opportunities to hire HHMI-supported student researchers. Most positions are for an 8-week research period (tentative dates: May 27 to July 18) and provide a stipend, research supply budget, and funds for travel expenses. HHMI-supported research students are expected to participate in a weekly series of seminars and workshops.
HHMI Summer Research Scholar Interdisciplinary Team
The HHMI-supported summer research program seeks to build on its previous successes by encouraging research projects with an interdisciplinary focus. Therefore, funding priority will be given to high risk/high reward interdisciplinary projects, involving two or more faculty researchers working with a small group of students. These positions will be open to currently enrolled first, second or third year students who will be enrolled next academic year (2013-14) at The College of Wooster as sophomores, juniors or seniors.
HHMI Summer Research Scholar
The previously funded HHMI SRS program, including student research opportunities at the Cleveland Clinic Wooster and OARDC, continues. These positions will be open to currently enrolled first, second or third year students who will be enrolled next academic year (2013-14) at The College of Wooster as sophomores, juniors or seniors.
Application and Review Process
After review by the HHMI Steering Committee, funded applications will be advertised on this web site. Following the student application deadline (February 15, 2013), completed forms will be forwarded to the research advisers. After reviewing the applications, the research advisers should contact the students directly and then report their selection to the HHMI Program Director by March 8, 2013. All students will be notified immediately following selection. Students will need to accept or decline the position by April 1, 2013. For more information, contact Professor Dean Fraga, HHMI Program Director.
