General Area of Research:

Assessment of learning in Alzheimer's disease-prone mice

Project Description:

We will look at learning over several ages to determine if Alzheimer's disease-prone mice show a cognitive shift at a specific age. We will use several behavioral techniques, isolate DNA, amplify DNA using PCR, and perform histology to determine the levels of plaque load. We will also create standard operating procedures for the behavioral tasks, organize equipment and determine supply needs. This research will require daily handling of mice (and maybe rats), cleaning rodent cages and general upkeep of the laboratory space.
