CHINA

Thoughts on being the Ambassador from China to The College of Wooster.
Kelly Pang, Ambassador from China

“Wo Zuo Dao Le!”

It means “I did it!” in Chinese, and that was the first sentence I told my parents and friends when I got the acceptance letter from the Ambassador Program.

In fact, while traveling to foreign countries, I believe I am already the ambassador of my country – China. The way I talk and the perspectives I have on certain things do not only represent myself, but also my cultural background.

I really cherish this opportunity to be “Miss China”, because I want to introduce my country and its’ unique culture to more people all over the world.

As a Chinese, I am supposed to know everything about the country. However, on the one hand, when preparing for the presentations, I feel embarrassed that there are so many things that I do not know. On the other hand, the preparation process also let me understand my country better, and I am really proud of being a Chinese.

In addition, the position is a challenge for me, because many foreigners have visited China, and there are a lot of Chinese in the U.S.. Therefore, my job is to find topics that are traditional, classical and more importantly, my audience will be interested in hearing them.

I am looking forward to introducing my country to many people, and I am confident that I will be an excellent “Miss China”!
