This is an MDID database.

Currently, the database includes items from the following countries: BANGLADESH, BRAZIL, INDIA, ISRAEL, JAMAICA, MYANMAR (BURMA), NEPAL, PAKISTAN, RUSSIA, SWITZERLAND, TANZANIA, UKRAINE, ZIMBABWE. Other countries will be added as soon as possible.

Currently it is NOT possible to access the database without a COW Novell password. We are working on way to solve this issue.

MORE INFORMATION
1. What is MDID?
Developed at James Madison University, the Madison Digital Image Database (MDID) software brings the digital image library into the teaching and learning process.

MDID is an online image database and multimedia instructional system designed to create and show Internet-based lectures using digitized images.
The system permits instructors to remotely generate “slideshows”, which can be annotated, placed online for student study, or archived for testing or future use.

2. MDID and the Ambassadors Program

The Ambassadors Program uses MDID to archive all items purchased overseas by the student Ambassadors. Each item is catalogued by country in the searchable database, and the pictures shown may be used for slideshows and classroom presentations.

In addition, this database serves as the basis for a lending library. In keeping with the Ambassadors Program mission of being the world to Wooster in a hands-on manner the items listed on the database are available to the College of Wooster community and select groups outside our campus to use in their classrooms so that students can examine, handle and learn from them. (Any items unable to be loaned out are so noted in the database)

3. How to use this database

Slideshow Tutorial

Nicola's Note: I recommend that you search the database using the "Search"option under the "Resources" tab. This will give you the option to select any country or keyword from the dropdown boxes.

4. How to borrow Ambassadors Program Artifacts

Please contact Nicola Kille, Coordinator of the Ambassadors Program with a list of the items you wish to borrow.

Please include your name, the name of your group/organsiation, the date, time and location of your event, the relevant identifier code for each item, a brief description of each item, and when the item will be returned to the Ambassadors Program. This will determine if the item is available when you need it. Free transportation of the items to events off campus will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Example: Mike Meeks, Tri-County International Baccalaureate Programme, Visual Art Class, Tuesday September 5, 7.30 am at Wooster High School
INDIA005: Shiva Statue
NEPAL015: Thangka
Items will be returned on Wednesday September 6.

Also, for our records, please advise the nature of your event, the approximate ages and number of people that will be in attendance

Example: IB art class, juniors and seniors, approx. 20 students.

5. Late/replacement Fees

In keeping with the policies of other departments at the College of Wooster, a late fee will be charged on all items that are not returned by the agreed upon due date.
This fee is 50 cents per day late.

Should the items not be returned within ONE MONTH of the due date a bill will be issued for the replacement cost of the item.

The general condition of each item is listed in the database. Should an item be returned in a condition inferior to that in which it was sent out an appropriate repair (materials and labour) fee will be issued. Should the item need replacing in entirety a bill will be issued for the replacement cost of the item.
