The goals of the Archaeology Student Colloquium are to:

bullet

Provide a venue for Archaeology Majors and other students interested in Archaeology.

bullet

Engage the discipline in a more complete fashion than is possible only in the classroom by disseminating information about relevant field research opportunities and graduate schools.

bullet

Sponsoring campus events such as lectures by scholars from other institutions, organizing field trips to archaeological sites, museums, and other relevant events and institutions.

bullet

Foster greater unity among the members (students and faculty) and coherence as a major than is often possible in Interdisciplinary Programs that lack a specific physical home in a particular department.

bullet

Encourage a more thorough understanding of the full range of activities involved in becoming a professional by means of attending regional and national meetings at which members can meet a cross-section of the Archaeological community and present the results of their own research.

MEMBERSHIP: Any individual who is a student, alumnus/alumna, faculty, or staff person at the College is eligible for membership. In addition, membership may be opened to interested individuals in Wooster and neighboring communities. Membership shall be open to any member of the College community regardless of age, sex, race, creed, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, or political affiliation, providing the individual expresses a genuine interest.

NEW MEMBER PROCESSES: For any member of the College community, payment of a small annual dues fee will entitle that person to membership in the Colloquium. Any person who is not a member of the College community must submit a brief statement of interest along with the annual dues to become a member; the individual becomes a member when a majority of the officers approve the application. Membership dues are set at $5 per year.
