Both Cross Country Teams Top-10 Among Ohio's D-III

On Friday (Oct. 11), The College of Wooster raced at the annual All-Ohio Cross Country Championships. The women had a good outing, finishing sixth of 21 teams in the Division III standings and 19th of 39 overall. The men came in 27th out of the 39 total squads, placing 10th among their peers in Division III.
The Wooster women compiled 542 points, while the winning team came from the University of Toledo (46) and Baldwin-Wallace College took home the Division III title (231).
Individually, the Scots were again paced by the effort of sophomore harriers Jennie Stockdale and Tiffany White. Stockdale ran a 20:17 to finish 19th in Division III and 76th overall, while just a few spots back, White placed 21st and 83rd, respectively, with her time of 20:22. Brianna Shook of Toledo was the winner (17:35) and Baldwin-Wallace's Jessica Textoris took home Division III honors (19:02).
Also scoring for the Wooster women were sophomores Erin Herl and Lindsey Dieringer, who worked together to finish 122nd (20:48) and 128th (20:54), respectively, in Division III, and junior Karina Colbenson, who ran 21:02, good enough for 136th.
The Scots' top-seven also consisted of senior classmates Megan Eberts in 168th (21:39) and Devon Herl in 176th (21:49).
In men's action, Wooster totaled 678 points, with Ohio State University taking home the overall gold with just 25 points and Mt. Union College ranking as the best Division III school at 262 points.
As usual, the Scots were led by senior Evan McDaniel, racing a 28:16 to place 25th among his Division III peers and 92nd overall. Finishing soon after with a time of 28:31 was classmate Jared Rhode in 32nd and 103rd, respectively. The overall individual champion was Division II's Nick Cordes out of Ashland University (25:06), while Kenyon College's Ben Hildebrand was the best in Division III (26:09).
Wooster's other male scorers were sophomore Chris Bender and freshmen Colin Turner and Taylor Delhagen. Bender placed 137th in Division III with a 29:10, Turner came in 160th at 29:45, and Delhagen finished 186th (30:22).
Just out of the scoring was junior Patrick Wynne in 198th (30:36) among the Division III runners, while freshman Chris Taft finished 214th (31:34).í
Next, the Scots will gear up for the third annual Wooster Relays on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
