Evan McDaniel looked to be in mid-season form as the senior opened with an individual victory during The College of Wooster's cross country teams' season-opening meet at Oberlin College on Friday (Aug. 30). It was not a team-scored event with the men running a dual against Oberlin and the women a tri-meet including Heidelberg College.

McDaniel turned in a winning time of 21:25 in the four-mile men's race, followed 16 seconds behind the runner-up. Wooster first-year Taylor Delhagen finished fourth overall (21:54). Closely behind were teammates Jared Rhode (22:03), Chris Bender (22:34), and Chris Taft (22:41) in fifth, sixth, and seventh, respectively.

The Scot women, running a 2.5-mile event, were led by the sophomore tandem of Jennie Stockdale and Tiffany White, who placed third (15:17) and fourth (15:18), respectively, less than 10 seconds off the winner's pace. Sisters Devon Herl, a senior, and Erin Herl, a sophomore, were next for Wooster in eighth (16:02) and 11th overall (16:30), while right behind Erin were teammates Lindsay Dieringer (16:32) and Vanessa Georgeson (16:35).

The Scots will next be competing at Case Western Reserve University's Bill Sudeck Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 7).
