The College of Wooster cross country squad showed off its home course for the first time in 2002 on Saturday (Sept. 28), and both the men and women fared well on the newly-routed trail through L.C. Boles Memorial Golf Course, placing fifth out of ten and fourth out of 11, respectively, at the Wooster Invitational.

Winning the competition was Division II program, Ashland University, as its men scored 31 points and its women had 50, while a close second in each race was Kenyon College at 46 (men) and 70 points (women). The Scot men ended up with 135 points and the women finished with an even 100.

Sophomore Tiffany White paced the Wooster women for the first time in her career, coming in seventh overall (19:55) closely followed by classmate Jennie Stockdale in eighth (19:56).

Lindsey Dieringer, another sophomore, ran third with a time of 20:32 in the 5K race, while other Scot scorers were junior Karina Colbenson and sophomore Erin Herl, who worked together to finish in 31st (21:01) and 32nd (21:06), respectively.

Rounding out Wooster's top-seven were seniors Megan Eberts at 21:12, good enough for 37th-place, and Devon Herl at 21:23 for 41st.

In men's action, senior Evan McDaniel finished the 8K run with a time of 27:20, placing ninth overall to lead the Scots, while classmate Jared Rhode ran second for the squad and 18th overall (27:54).

The remaining three scorers for the Wooster men were freshman Taylor Delhagen, freshman Colin Turner, and senior Patrick Wynne. Delhagen placed 35th, running 28:46, while Turner finished 38th (29:04) and Wynne was 43rd overall (29:12).

Sophomores Chris Bender and David Ruttinger also made the top-seven for the Scots, racing times of 29:19 (45th) and 30:11 (64th), respectively.

After a weekend off, Wooster will next travel to Delaware, Ohio, for the All-Ohio Championships on Oct. 11.
