McDaniel, Dieringer Pace Scots at Wooster Relays

After a 12-day layoff from competition, The College of Wooster cross country teams ran on Wednesday (Oct. 23), in its final tune-up prior to the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships. The 3rd annual Wooster Relays, a non-scoring meet, was a unique race, featuring the competitors from Edinboro University and the host Scots running a series of intervals and totaling their times.ç

The women ran intervals of 2000 meters, 600 meters, 800 meters, and 1000 meters for a total of 4400 meters, while the men ran a 6800-meter race, consisting of 2000, 1000, 800, and 3000 intervals.

For the women, Lindsey Dieringer and Jennifer Stockdale led the way for Wooster, finishing fifth and sixth, respectively, with times of 15:49 and 15:56, while taking first was Edinboro's Kelly Richards (15:07). Rounding out Wooster's top-five were Tiffany White in eighth (16:08), Erin Herl in ninth (16:18), and Devon Herl in 10th (16:22).

On the men's side, Evan McDaniel and Jared Rhode were Wooster's lone top-ten finishers, as McDaniel came in fourth with a time of 21:04 and Rhode was ninth in 21:58. Aaron Rowe of Edinboro claimed the individual title (19:52), while other top Wooster runners were Taylor Delhagen, Colin Turner, and Patrick Wynee. That trio took 11th- (22:36), 12th- (22:37), and 13th-place (22:49), respectively.

The Scots will head to the NCAC Championships on Saturday, Nov. 2. This year's meet will be hosted by Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio.
