In a rare dual cross country meet on Friday, The College of Wooster’s teams swept past visiting Hiram College, with the Fighting Scot men winning 15-50 and the women 15-49 as part of “Homecoming” weekend at L.C. Boles Memorial Golf Course.

In the men’s 5K race, Wooster runners accounted for the first nine finishers. The overall winner was senior Colin Turner, who covered the hilly course in 16:56. Competing in his first event of 2005, senior all-conference honoree Taylor Delhagen came in second (17:05), while rounding out the Scots’ scorers were junior Rudy Gilman in third (17:36), junior Nate Malcomb in fourth (17:44), and freshman Paul Thompson in fifth (17:45).

Even without top runner Katie Wieferich, the Wooster women took the first six places of their 5K. Sophomore Nicole Calderone crossed the line first with a time of 21:08, while junior teammate Ashley Zervos was the runner-up in 21:15. They were followed by junior Emily Rackley, junior Sarah Lloyd, and sophomore Erin Fortin in third (21:28), fourth (21:40), and fifth (21:50), respectively.

The Scots have one more tune-up prior to the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships, as they’ll host the Wooster Relays on Oct. 19.
