For the fifth time this fall, Katie Wieferich was The College of Wooster's top finisher, this time claiming second at the non-scoring Wooster Relays on Wednesday (Oct. 19) evening. The event featured individuals from Fighting Scot head coach Dennis Rice's alma mater, Edinboro University, and his current Wooster squads racing four different distances and then adding up their times for an individual finish.

The women's race consisted of 2000 meters, 1000 meters, 800 meters, and 1600 meters, with a seven-minute break between each, for a total of 5400 meters, while the men's portion was a 6800-meter race with intervals of 2000, 1000, 800, and 3000 meters.

Wieferich placed second overall in the women's race with a time of 18:35, trailing only Julie Nemergut of Edinboro who completed the course in 18:12. Edinboro took up each of the next eight spots before the next Scot, Cara Stoddard, completed the event 11th in 20:59. Nicole Calderone, Emily Rackley, and Sarah Lloyd rounded out Wooster's top-five, finishing 12th (21:17), 13th (21:41), and 14th (21:46), respectively.

Edinboro dominated the men's portion of the race, claiming each of the first eight spots led by Jared Lowrey with a total time of 20:49. Seniors Taylor Delhagen and Colin Turner were the Scots' top finishers, completing the course in 22:12 and 22:18 for ninth and 10th, respectively. Rudy Gilman, Nathan Malcomb, and Bryan Loy rounded out the Scot top-five in 11th (23:15), 12th (23:22), and 13th (23:27), respectively.

Wooster next competes at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday, Oct. 29, hosted by Denison University in Granville, Ohio.
