Both teams started the game sluggishly, as neither could get their offense going. Wooster took an early 3-0 lead on a 32-yard field goal by Ben Arnold, but that was matched by Jason Engel's 22-yard field goal early in the second quarter. On the Scots' ensuing possession, they marched 72 yards on 10 plays, capping the drive with a five-yard touchdown pass from Rich Judd to Doug Laditka. Wooster missed the extra-point, giving it a 9-3 lead heading into halftime.
The second half belonged to the Scots, as they scored touchdowns on their first two possessions. After the Colonels missed a field goal to open the third quarter, Wooster drove the ball 80 yards on nine plays, scoring on a Jeff Elser's six-yard run. On their next possession, the Scots drove 62 yards, with Elser scoring from one-yard out. After Centre scored its lone touchdown of the game, Mike Murray clinched the win with a 69-yard interception return for a touchdown, his third in two seasons.
Statistically, the Scots had a balanced attack, passing for 179 yards and rushing for 156. The offensive hero for Wooster was Elser, who carried the ball 27 times for 115 yards. Judd completed 11-of-24 passes for 179 yards, while Brandon Good caught four balls for 63 yards.
