Game 10 - Ohio Wesleyan

The Scots celebrate their first ever NCAC Championship and their first conference title of any kind since 1959.
The Scot football team captured a share of its first ever North Coast Athletic Conference championship and won its first conference title of any kind since 1959 with a 28-14 victory at Ohio Wesleyan in cold, snowy conditions.

Wooster, which three years ago finished eighth in the conference with a 1-9 overall record and 1-7 in the NCAC, knew coming into Saturday that all it needed was a victory to clinch at least a share of the conference crown. A victory would also keep the Scots in the running for a possible national playoff berth.

As it has done in almost every game this season, Wooster jumped out on top first when Jeff Elser scored from one-yard out early in the first quarter. The Bishops immediately responded, however, driving 64 yards in 15 plays, scoring on a 16-yard pass from Mark Hanawalt to Matt Capone. The extra point was no good, so the Scots still held a 7-6 lead.

The score remained the same until the 10:23 mark of the second quarter, when David Yokley scored from one-yard out to give Wooster a 14-6 lead. Then in the final 3:52 of the first half, Rich Judd, who was expected to miss the game with a strained shoulder, hit Brandon Good on touchdown passes of 16 and 11 yards.

That proved to be all the points the Scots would need, as Ohio Wesleyan managed only a touchdown in the second half, which was set up by a blocked punt.

Judd capped a brilliant regular season by completing 18-of-31 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns. Judd also set a new school record for total offense for one season (2018). Also having a record-setting day was Good, who caught 11 passes for 134 yards and two touchdowns. Good set new school records for receiving yards (902) and receptions (60) in one season.

Wooster finished the regular season with a 9-1 overall record and a 7-1 NCAC mark.
