Nevertheless, Wooster was still effective on offense, especially on the ground, where it outrushed the Bishops 222-71. The story was the play of Brock Wanless, who gained a career-high 164 yards on 23 carries. His biggest yards came after the most important series of plays in the game.
Holding onto a 13-7 lead in the fourth quarter, Wooster had a punt blocked at its own 23-yard line. On the very next play, Ohio Wesleyan quarterback Phil Heyn tossed a pass to Kevin McMahon in the back of the end zone that he juggled before catching. However, his feet were just beyond the end line, and the pass was ruled incomplete. Wooster stopped the Bishops on the next three plays and took over at the 19-yard line. Wanless carried the ball six times on the next possession, gaining 47 yards, capping the drive with an eight-yard touchdown run that sealed the win.
Once again, the Scot defense played an outstanding game, limiting the high-powered Bishop running game to an average of 3.3 yards per carry. Wooster also registered two interceptions, four sacks seven tackles for losses. Seth Duerr recorded six tackles, including two for losses, to finish with 110 for the season.
Brandon Good capped an amazing career by catching a pass in his 40th consecutive game. He finished with 11 catches for 95 yards and a touchdown. Rich Judd completed 16-of-37 passes for 140 yards.
