A Dozen Scots Earn NFHCA National Academic Honors
The College of Wooster field hockey team, winners of 13 games last fall (13-6), including an 8-4 mark in the North Coast Athletic Conference, and 12 of its players were recently awarded for their achievements in the classroom by the sport’s coaches organization – the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. As a whole, Wooster was labeled an NFHCA “Academic Team,” one of 82 in NCAA Div. III to average a grade-point average of 3.00 or higher. There are 150-plus Div. III schools that sponsor field hockey. An even dozen of the Scots’ 24 players were named to the NFHCA Div. During 2004, the Scots were part of a three-way tie for second in league action, but were eliminated by Wittenberg University 3-2 in the semifinals of the NCAC tourney. |
