Addis, Tingley Repeat on All-NCAC Field Hockey Team
WOOSTER, Ohio – College of Wooster senior Lindsay Tingley (Rockville, Md. / Walter Johnson) put the finishing touches on an outstanding collegiate field hockey career by being named to the 2005 Dartfish/NFHCA Division III All-Great Lakes Region First Team, as recently announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. It marks Tingley’s second-straight selection to the first-team and her third all-region honor overall as she was second-team in 2003. Teammates joining Tingley with all-region recognition were a trio of juniors in Anlyn Addis (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Ann Arbor Pioneer), Katy Baron (River Forest, Ill. / Oak Park & River Forest), and Miranda Leickly (Gahanna, Ohio / Columbus Academy), all of whom landed on the second-team. Tingley, who earned first-team All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors earlier in the month, was one of Wooster’s fiercest competitors and finished tied for third on the team in scoring with 15 points on six goals and three assists, with most of her offensive numbers coming in the second half of the season. During one six-game stretch, she tallied five goals and one assist, including the game-winning score in a 1-0 victory over Ohio Wesleyan University. For her career, she finished with 20 assists, sixth all-time at Wooster, and 23 goals for 66 points.
Earning her second-straight second-team all-region honor is Addis, who, like Tingley, was also a first-team All-NCAC pick. Addis was a major part of the Scot offense throughout the year and finished with a career- and team-high 24 points on 10 goals and four assists, while tying for fourth in the league with 1.26 points per game. Noteworthy, Addis posted her first career hat trick this fall in a 5-0 victory over Earlham College. For her career, she now has accumulated 64 points on 26 goals and 12 assists, and has a shot at becoming one of the top-five scorers in Wooster history next fall. Baron, a midfielder, earns all-region accolades for the first time in her career. She starred on both sides of the field as one of the most tenacious defenders and best passers on the team. Baron started all 20 games, tallying one goal and tying for second on the team with four assists. Her lone score proved to be the game-winner in a 2-1 decision at Transylvania University.
Leickly had a breakout year this fall as the cornerstone of the Scot defense and also collected first-team all-conference accolades. She missed her first two games of the season due to injury, but returned to play the final 18 and finished third on the team with four defensive saves. As a middle back, Leickly was instrumental in Wooster’s push for the NCAC Tournament, helping the defense hold eight of its last 10 opponents to one goal or less. After a 1-5 start to the season, Wooster closed out the year winning 10 of its last 14 to finish 11-9. The Scots went 8-4 in NCAC play to tie for second-place and made it to the conference tournament championship where their season came to a close with a 3-0 loss to regular season champion Oberlin College. |
