For the first time since 1996, The College of Wooster landed two players on the All-America Team, as forwards Amanda Artman (Shaker Hts., Ohio / Shaker Heights) and Anlyn Addis (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Pioneer) were named second-team and third-team, respectively, by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. Wooster’s most recent All-American was current assistant coach Kelley Hubbell (2004), while the last   Fighting Scot duo on the NFHCA Div. III All-America Team was Katie Ewig and Heather Heitsenrether.

Artman, also announced Monday as the North Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year and NCAC Newcomer of the Year, exploded on to the NCAA Div. III scene. The freshman scoring sensation led her conference in all three major scoring categories – goals (19), assists (12), and points (50) – and ranks as the nation’s 14th-leading scorer at 2.38 points per game. Artman had three hat tricks during the season, highlighted by an eight-point outing against Earlham College on Sept. 30 when she added two assists during her second-straight three-goal game. Artman’s 50 points marked the third-highest individual scoring season at Wooster, as she became the first to hit that milestone since 1982.

Addis, who scored a goal during Saturday’s Div. III All-Star Game, played in conjunction with the NCAA Div. III Tournament championship game, caps her career with her first All-American honor. As a senior forward in 2006, she ranked right behind Artman in the league statistics as she was second in goals (16), assists (11), and points (43), while also tying for 27th in Div. III in assists (0.52 apg). Highlighting her season, Addis became the first Scot to score four goals in a game since 1991, rattling the cage four times during a 20:11 stretch against rival Wittenberg University Oct. 7. For her career, Addis will leave Wooster as just the fifth in team history to crack the 100-point milestone, finishing fourth on the scoring list with 107 points (42 goals, 23 assists).

The high scoring duo of Artman and Addis led Wooster to its fifth NCAC championship, in addition to a 15-6 overall record during 2006. In fact, the Scots went a perfect 12-0 during the NCAC regular season, the first to do so since Denison University in 1999.
