For the second time in two weeks, The College of Wooster field hockey squad squeaked past Earlham College, needing overtime to beat the pesky Quakers 2-1 on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 28) in a North Coast Athletic Conference match-up at Richmond, Ind.

Wooster (6-2, 4-1 NCAC) outshot Earlham 17-3 in the two teams' meeting on Sept. 15, but could not get a ball by goalie Catherine Chow until an extra session, and a similar scenario played out Saturday.

Overall, the Scots outshot and outcornered their hosts 22-2 and 25-4, respectively, but were behind 1-0 at the halftime break on a Rebecca Aldred penalty stroke.

Wooster did score on Chow to tie it up early in the second half, when sophomore Angela Arnold finished a penalty corner at the 26:10 mark.

After finishing regulation tied 1-1, the Scots entertained Earlham for the first 11:01 of overtime until junior Alanna Tryder broke free and scored on the team's third shot of the extra session.

Chow finished with 18 saves, while Wooster sophomore Beth Skelton only needed to make one during 81:01 of action.

The Scots continue league play on Tuesday (Oct. 1) with a game at Oberlin College (4-2, 3-2 NCAC) at 4:30 p.m.
