Another game, another overtime win for The College of Wooster field hockey team on Tuesday (Oct. 1), as Lindsey Boardman's goal with :52 remaining in the first extra session gave her squad a 2-1 victory at Oberlin College in North Coast Athletic Conference action.
Wooster (7-2, 5-1 NCAC) has now won 10-straight games that have gone to overtime, dating back to the middle of the 2000 season, and four have come in its nine games this year.
Boardman's unassisted score capped a furious offensive assault by the Scots, as they fired 10 shots to Oberlin's one during the 14:08 of the extra session. In regulation, though, the Yeowomen (4-3, 3-3 NCAC) held an 8-6 shot advantage as well as a 10-4 edge in penalty corners.
Wooster took a 1-0 lead into halftime via an Ashley Hecker goal, assisted by Alanna Tryder midway through the opening stanza, and Oberlin tied it up midway through the second half.
In goal, the Scots' Beth Skelton made three saves, while Siv Tang kept the Yeowomen in the contest with nine saves, five of which she made in overtime.
Next, Wooster plays at No. 12 Wittenberg University (9-0, 5-0 NCAC) on Friday (Oct. 4) at 7 p.m., before hosting non-league foe Centre College (5-3) on Saturday (Oct. 5) at 2:30 p.m.
