It took a while for The College of Wooster offense to get going, but once it did, the Scots opened up the floodgates during their 5-0 victory over Ohio Wesleyan University in North Coast Athletic Conference field hockey action Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 10). The five-goal margin marked Wooster's biggest win in the all-time series with Ohio Wesleyan since 1984 (10-0).

The Scots, facing their first test as the defending league champions and making their home debut, did all of their damage from 5:51 left in the first half to the 18:38 mark of the second. Kelley Hubbell, a sophomore defender, lit the scoreboard up first at the end of the opening stanza with her first career goal.

It remained 1-0 at the break, but just :44 into the second half Wooster found the back of the net again on Ashley Hecker's team-leading third score. She was assisted by Lindsay Tingley.

Ten minutes later, the Scots buried the Battling Bishops with three goals less than six minutes apart, starting with an unassisted one off the stick of Alanna Tryder. Lindsay Boardman tacked on the final two, including the first one assisted by Hecker, for the finishing touches of the rout.

Overall, Wooster outshot its visitors 22-2 and outcornered them 13-5, while Scot 'keeper Beth Skelton needed to make just two saves on the afternoon. Ohio Wesleyan's Liz Stone had a tough outing, as she came up with 12 saves against Wooster's relentless attack.

The Scots next take their 2-1 overall record and 1-0 NCAC mark into action on Sunday (Sept. 15), when they host Earlham College (2-2) at 1 p.m.
