The College of Wooster field hockey team won its first North Coast Athletic Conference tilt of the season 4-0 Saturday afternoon at Earlham, behind two goals by Brittany Montgomery.

The Scots (2-1, 1-0) struck first eight minutes into action, when Gina Crough converted a penalty stroke into a score, putting Wooster on top 1-0.

Amanda Artman scored her third goal of the season, an unassisted tally in the 18th minute, to extend the Scot lead to 2-0 in the first half.

The second half was all Montgomery, as she netted both of her goals (her 3rd and 4th of the season) one minute apart, as Wooster cruised onto victory. Katy Baron assisted on the first Montgomery goal 44:49 into play, while Anlyn Addis picked up her third assist of the season on Montgomery's second goal with 45:43 on the clock.

Statistically, the Scots dominated the contest, out-shooting the Quakers (0-3, 0-2) 25-5.

Defensively, Anne Leigh recorded five saves for Wooster in earning her second shutout in three attempts this season, while Earlham keeper Katherine McDonough also came up big with 12 stops.

The Scots return to action Sunday, September 10, when they play host to Transylvania in an 11:00 a.m. non-conference contest.
