In a rematch of last season’s North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament championship game, Kenyon College again got the best of host College of Wooster on Saturday, this time slipping past the Fighting Scots 2-0.

Kenyon (4-2, 3-0 NCAC), which upended the Scots 2-1 during that last meeting to take the league’s automatic berth into the 2006 NCAA Div. III Tournament, scored with 3:19 remaining in the first half when Lauren Keiling put in a rebound off a scramble in front of the Wooster cage.

The Scots (1-4, 0-3 NCAC), who held the upper hand for most of the opening 35 minutes with a 12-6 shot advantage, stayed within striking distance until late in regulation. With just under seven minutes to play, the Ladies were able to capitalize on a breakaway as Elisabeth Dow scored an unassisted goal.

Defensively, Wooster’s Izzy Maffetone came up with six saves on 13 shots for the game, while Karen Thompson preserved the shutout with two saves.

Next, the Scots will aim for their first conference victory Thursday at Oberlin College (3-2, 2-1 NCAC) at 4:30 p.m.
